Swimming courses for children

Level 1 – “Crab”

Requirement:

Children must be able to separate from their parents and participate independently in the course for 30 minutes.

Course Content:

Diving Toy: Fully submerge while standing for at least 3 seconds, holding breath and exhaling above water afterward.

Bubble Bath: Fully submerge while standing for at least 3 seconds and visibly exhale through mouth and/or nose underwater.

Airplane: Float on the stomach for at least 3 seconds with proper head position, arms held to the side.

Front Glide: Push off from wall or steps, glide independently on stomach for at least 3 seconds (no kicking), face in the water, arms extended forward.

Jump: Jump freely from the pool edge, landing on feet, and fully submerge immediately.

Level 2 – “Seahorse”

Requirement:

Either the Level 1 badge (“Crab”) or mastery of Level 1 skills.

Fish Eye: Submerge, open eyes, and recognize an object, number, or color underwater.

Air Pump: While standing: inhale, submerge, and exhale completely underwater. Repeat four times continuously without rubbing eyes. Goal: develop even breathing rhythm.

Water Lily: Float on back for at least 5 seconds, arms held at side or overhead.

Front Glide with Leg Motor: Glide on stomach for at least 2 meters from a push-off without kicking, followed by another 2 meters with kicking.

Frog Jump: Jump into deep water and submerge (support person is in the water).

Level 3 – “Frog”

Requirement:

Either the Level 2 badge (“Seahorse”) or mastery of Level 2 skills.

Course Content:

Motorboat: Push off from the edge, glide for at least 5 seconds on the stomach at the surface with proper head position and visible exhalation.

Back Glide: Glide for at least 5 seconds on the back from a push-off, arms extended overhead.

Seal Swimming (Back): 8 meters of flutter kick on back, hands paddling at sides or arms extended.

Seal Swimming (Front): 8 meters of flutter kick on stomach, hands paddling or arms extended, with an arm movement to support inhalation.

Somersault: Forward roll from the edge into deep water.

Level 4 – “Penguin”

Requirement:

Either the Level 3 badge (“Frog”) or mastery of Level 3 skills.

Course Content:

Handstand: Perform a handstand from standing, then roll forward and visibly exhale through the nose.

Tunnel Dive: Dive underwater, push off from wall, and glide through a fully submerged hoop without propulsion.

Superman: From a push-off, perform 10–15 meters of flutter kick on stomach with one arm extended. Rotate to side to breathe, then return to stomach to exhale. Repeat at least 3 times.

Polar Bear Swim: 10–15 meters swimming on stomach using flutter kick and arm strokes with “paddle movement” in front of head, exhaling into the water.

Backstroke: 15–25 meters backstroke with flutter kick and arm recovery above water.

Level 5 – “Octopus”

Requirement:

Either the Level 4 badge (“Penguin”) or mastery of Level 4 skills.

Course Content:

Shark: 15–20 meters flutter kick on stomach, one arm extended, the other along the side. Exhale into water, inhale by rotating over extended arm while lifting opposite elbow, then return to exhale.

Slalom: Underwater push-off and swim 5 meters with flutter kick and breaststroke arms through two staggered hoops.

Log Rolls: 15 meters of continuous “log roll” swimming with flutter kick and two full rolls from back to stomach and vice versa. Arms stay extended overhead throughout.

Screw Crawl: 25 meters: alternate between 5–8 meters front crawl (flutter kick + alternating arms + side breathing) and 5–8 meters backstroke. Repeat.

Headfirst Dive: Dive headfirst from squat or standing position and glide toward the pool bottom.

Level 6 – “Crocodile”

Requirement:

Either the Level 5 badge (“Octopus”) or mastery of Level 5 skills.

Course Content:

Front Crawl (Full Stroke): 15 meters with flutter kick and full alternating arms, underwater and above-water phases, with proper side breathing.

Windscreen Wiper: From push-off: move 5–8 meters using only arms. Elbows point outward; arms perform inward and outward movement under the chest. Face remains in water with proper head position (not breaststroke, no leg kick).

Crawl-Breast Mix: 20–30 meters front swim with flutter kick + breaststroke arms and regular breathing forward with each stroke.

Water Treading: Stay upright in deep water for 30 seconds using outward-rotated flexed feet (toes bent downward). Arms can help (e.g., paddling).

Duck Feet: 10–15 meters of simultaneous leg motion (whip/kick with outward rotated feet) in both back and front positions. Arm position is optional.

Level 7 – “Polar Bear”

Requirement:

Either the Level 6 badge (“Crocodile”) or mastery of Level 6 skills.

Course Content:

Underwater Turn: From standing, dive from 5 meters away, perform an underwater turn and retrieve an object from the pool floor 2 meters further.

Dolphin: From a push-off, perform dolphin body movements for 4–6 meters using clear motion from head/shoulders (no dolphin jumps, legs stay relaxed). Arms extended or at sides.

Breaststroke: 16–25 meters full stroke with effective leg movement, bent-arm pull, correct breathing coordination, and visible exhalation into water.

Water Safety Check:

Complete all three exercises in sequence without pause:

1. From the edge, roll or somersault into deep water (head must submerge).

2. Stay afloat for 1 minute (on back or by water treading or flutter kick).

3. Swim 50 meters.
